The AI readiness checklist for revenue teams
Before you deploy a single agent, run through this. Ten questions that separate teams ready for the AI layer from teams that need to build the foundation first.

Most AI projects don’t fail at the model — they fail at the foundation. Before deploying an agent, work through this checklist. Every “no” is a foundation item to fix first.
Data
- Does every core object have a single, agreed definition?
- Are your key fields populated consistently — not 40% blank?
- Can you produce a reconciled pipeline report without a spreadsheet?
Systems
- Is each automation owned by one person and documented?
- Do your systems agree on lifecycle, ownership, and stage?
- Are integrations monitored, or do they fail silently?
Process
- Is there a human-in-the-loop step for consequential agent actions?
- Do you have a way to measure what an agent actually changed?
Governance
- Do you know what data the agent can read and act on — and what it can’t?
- Is there an escalation path when the agent is unsure?
If most answers are “yes,” you’re ready to deploy. If not, that’s not a failure — it’s a scope. Fixing the foundation is faster than most teams expect, and it’s the highest-leverage work you can do before the AI layer.
